Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday, and the extra long break from school!

I would like to take a moment to thank all of the parents who helped with our
Halloween Celebration. It was such a fun party, and it's all thanks to you.
So, whether you donated an item, came in to help- or both!- THANK YOU!

I also would like to thank the parents who helped for the Plants Centers. The
students learned a lot, and had fun- so thank you, again!

When we return to school in November, we will be reading a book called
Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dohl. Every year, this is a kid favorite!
What else is cool about it? The movie is coming out in November, too!

In Math, we will continue to count money, and begin making change. Please be
preared for a Test on counting money towards the end of that week!

In Science, we will complete our unit on Plants. I cannot tell you how
impressed I am with the students' knowledge on plants- they love learning
about it!

In Social Studies, we will begin our unit on Colonial Life.

I'd like to take a quick moment to thank all of the staff, parents, and
community members who have been yahooing for Mrs. Policastro and I. We still
have until 11/8 (so you can still help us!!), but already, we both have
gained SO many new materials for our classrooms. How can we ever thank you
enough?

Beginning the week we return to school, we will be participating in Coins 4
Kids. This is a fundraiser to help needy children in our community who
need help this holiday season. This will run from 11/9 to 11/20. We are
counting on your spare change to not only help our classroom win the prize--
but, more importantly, to help our Manchester families in need have a happier
holiday. Thank you.

On that note, the giving tree for the holiday drive was put up a little
earlier this year due to the week off from school in Nov. and the later
conference dates. If you are not coming into school, and would like to donate
a gift to the giving tree, please let me know and I will have your child
choose an item off the tree for you.

Ready for more? On November 12th, the MTEF (Manchester Twp. Education
Foundation) will be having a fundraiser at Applebees from 11-11. The
Foundation does many things for your children, and for our school. They
provide scholarships, grants, and many opportunities for students to get a
better ecucation. If you would like to dine at Applebees that evening, please
let me know so I can give you a flyer. The flyer will allow Applebees to give
MTEF 10% of your bill.

Please also remember that our school is always collecting the following
items: box tops, terra cycle wrappers (capri sun pouches, frito lay/nabisco
wrappers, etc.), campbell's upc labels, coke rewards codes/points, and tyson
chicken wrappers. It's a lot- but it is money going directly to our students!
Thanks for your help!

As always, If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me!
