announcement
Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween and week off. I want to thank everyone who came for the Halloween festivities. The children all seem to have a great time. We certainly did luck out with a beautiful day! Now it is back to reality! We will begin feverishly rehearsing for our Thanksgiving play. So please try to have your children in school if at all possible. I will also be sending home the words to our songs. I encourage you to practice these at home. A letter with information about what your child will need to wear will also be coming home soon. Just keep in mind that Indians ( Native Anericans) should wear earth tones (brown, tan, dark green). Pilgrims should wear black and white. The play will be performed on Tuesday November 24 at 1:00 pm. Please let me know ASAP if your child will not be in school that day as we will need to rearrange for one less student. We will also be doing several prior performances for the 1st Grades and the pre-school.
Parent Volunteers- We are still in need of a few more regular volunteers. Several existing volunteers have jumped in to cover for now. Thank you so much !!!!!! It would be nice though to get a few more volunteers. PLEASE let me know if you want to be added to the schedule and what days and how many times per month you would like to come in. Any days on the calendar that do not have a parent's name are available. If you would like to get on the schedule please let me know. Send a note or give me a call (732-330-3758) Mornings are when we need the most help, however if afternoons work for you please let me know. Tuesday afternoons we are in the Computer Lab. Lots of help is needed there.
HOMEWORK- Most of the children are doing a good job on their homework.Thank you for your support. Please review the directions with your child. Remember, Homework is THEIR responsibility. It is very important for them to do the work themselves. When they are done please review the work and go over anything they completed incorrectly. After homework is returned please review with them any corrections I have made especially on letter and number formation.
Have a great week!
If you have not done so, please read the information below.
1) LUNCH- We will be having the first lunch period this year- 11:20am Your child may buy lunch. Please make sure you have perpaid money on your child's account. The lunchroom can be very overwhelming. The children only have about 20 minutes to finish their lunch. Another group of students will be coming into the lunchroom at that time and your kindergarten will be going out for recess. Please make sure your child’s NAME is CLEARLY MARKED on all lunch boxes, bags, thermos’ and ice packs.
2) SNACK- Our snack time will be around 2:00pm since we have the early lunch. Ridgeway Elementary School DOES NOT provide snack or a drink. You MUST PACK a SMALL, HEALTHY SNACK and DRINK for your child EVERYDAY. Snacks should be packed in a separate bag from your child’s lunch in order to insure that they do not eat their snack for lunch!!!
3) DRESS IN LAYERS- I strongly encourage you to dress your child in layers EVERYDAY! I keep my classroom rather chilly which helps cut down on the germs (and keeps Mrs. Fusaro comfy). Therefore your child should keep a light sweater, sweatshirt or jacket in their backpack. The weather at recess time can also be very different from the morning. Sometimes children need to add or remove clothing to be comfortable outside.
4) BACKPACK and FOLDERS your child needs to bring a backpack and their folder to school EVERYDAY. Please make sure their NAME is clearly written on each item. Their backpack should be large enough for their lunch, snack and folder to fit comfortably in. Folders should be replaced when they become ripped. It is VERY important for you to EMPTY your child’s folder everyday.
