Research finds that the typical teen reader reading an independent level book will cover <U>24 pages in 30 minutes</U>. Since the typical teen book is under 250 pages, this translates to <U>168 pages or more per week</U> or one book every other week. Students who cannot read to this expectations should check the difficulty level of the book and the quality of the reading environment before making the necessary adjustments. <U><EM>Students who follow the school year reading homework assignment during the eight weeks of summer break should reach a minimum of 1,344 pages by the end of the summer which roughly translates to 5 books.</EM></U></STRONG></SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia;
