Welcome back to school! I am thrilled to be the 8th grade counselor for the
2008-2009 school year. It is so nice to see all of the familiar faces from
last year, as well as the 8th graders who are new to the district.
This year I will be working with your children to explore their talents and
abilities in order to assist them in making choices for electives in high
school next year. In addition I will be on hand to assist with high school
scheduling which will take place in February.
In November students will be involved in a Career Day where
they will be introduced to various careers. Speakers will come to talk with
the students about their careers and day to day job responsibilties. This is
the culmination of our career lessons that took place in both sixth and
seventh grades.
If you are planning to investigate private high schools and you need
paperwork filled out by teachers or myself, kindly give
us at least two weeks to gather the necessary information.
As a school counselor I can be of assistance in many ways. I can help you
find solutions to your problems, meet the challenges of growing up, and help
you better understand and appreciate your individual differences. Please
feel free to come and talk to me about your personal problems, social
issues, and academics. It is my goal to be able to help you in any way
possible. Please feel free to contact me via email at
afinkelstein@montville.net or by phone at 331-7140*232. I welcome and look
forward to hearing from you. Best wishes for a wonderful school year!
