What is the policy for my child to receive medication during school?

Parents may send to school only those prescribed medications,
which must be taken during school hours. As much as possible,
medications should be dispensed at home and not sent into
school. When it is neccessary to bring
medication to school, the medication must:

1. Be brought immediately to the nurse's office

2. Be prescribed medication in its legal container

3. Be accompanied with an order from your child's doctor.(No
Medications can be given by the Nurses without an MD order
including OTC Meds, including Advil, Tylenol, Zyrtec, etc)

4. Written Parental consent must also be obtained for medication
administration.

Medication Forms can be obtained in Health Office to be filled
out by MD and parent. If your child needs any medication during
school hours, this form must be filled out and given back to us.
This inludes ***EMERGENCY MEDICATION*** Such as Epipens and
Inhalers. All Med Forms will need to renewed each school year by
your MD and sent in on annual basis along with medication.

When can my child return to school after a fever?

A child with a fever is expected to stay home until they are
fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing
medicaton. ( ie:Tylenol, Motrin, etc) If a child is sent home
with a fever he/she is to follow the same rules regarding the
fever. This prevents the spread of pathogens, as well as,
providing recuperation time for the ill child who may be
susceptible to other illnesses.
