Dear Kindergarten Families:
Happy Monday!
Your child has mastered the “magice” sound; therefore, we are moving on to two-syllable words with magic e. Giving the children the appropriate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic factors for each sound has made spelling two-syllable words, such as cupcake, possible. You are going to be amazed at what they can spell this week!
We will continue to work on money this week. The children are counting mixed coins. They have created a classroom store that they work on during centers. You can help them with this concept at home by giving them a group of nickels and pennies or dimes and pennies and have them count each group.
Author’s Spotlight: This is a BIG day for your child. They have been working on writing and illustrating their own story for over a month now. On May 30th, the children will share their stories with all of you. The theme this year is Hollywood. Your child will walk down the red carpet and get photographed by paparazzi as they enter the classroom. We ask that they come to school dressed as a celebrity. (Example: Dressed up wearing sunglasses…) They will bring their school uniform with them to change so they can enjoy recess and/or gym class later in the day.
Enjoy your week!
