Lesson 6 is a historical fiction called "The Babe and I" by David A.Adler and
the paired selection is a time line called, "America's National Pastime".
The story is a made-up story that is set in the past and has people, places,
and events that are real or could be real. This story is about a young boy
who sells newspapers to help earn money for his family. One person who buys
the newspaper is Babe Ruth, who gave him such a generous tip that the boy
could attend a baseball game.
Grammar- Compound sentences
* A compound sentence is made up of two or more simple sentences.
* A compound sentence uses a comma and the words AND, OR, BUT, to join the
sentences.
* The word AND shows a connection between two ideas.
* The words BUT and OR show a difference between two ideas.
Math
We have begun Chapter 3- Subtraction. Be sure to study your basic facts and
the timestables. We have been working on regrouping. Please practice this at
