Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. It is very important because it reinforces what we learned in class that day, and it also allows everyone at home to know what we are working on in class. I ask that you please sign or initial your child's homework every night so I know you have seen it! Math/Phonics and Spelling are assigned every night. Spelling homework: Day 1: Write each word 4x each Day 2: Put all words in ABC order Day 3: Use words 1-5 in a sentence Day 4: Use words 6-10 in a sentence Day 5: Test! NO HOMEWORK! Spelling packets are sent home on the first day the words are introduced, and you tear off the worksheets as they are assigned. This way your child has all of their spelling homework with them on Day 1 of the lesson and can work on them as they please. Please do not hand in worksheets before they are assigned. All homework assignments will be placed in their Arleth folder on the "Return" side. My students are responsible for their work. They must check to make sure that their homework is in their folder before they leave to go home, and before they come to school the next day. Please check your child's folder every night! Children will receive credit for completed homework on their homework charts each day. It is very important that assignments be returned on time! The children will always be tested on our focus skills on Day 6 of of a lesson. The skills to be tested are listed on the "School Home Connection" sheet that you receive at the beginning of each week. Reviewing with your child each night will be very beneficial! I will always send reminders two days prior to a test. Please continue to practice high frequency word cards and encourage your child to read their decodable books to you. This is great reinforcement and will strengthen your child's reading fluency!
