November 2009
As we approach the holidays, I want to thank each of you for giving the Arleth
Media Center the gift of your time, your smiling faces, and your patience when
things do not always run smoothly. The many days off this month can be
disruptive but you have risen to the challenge, particularly when I was out
sick for two days.
Now that everyone is becoming more comfortable with checking in and borrowing
routines, the next focus is on shelving books. Please sort the books and put
in order on the brown cart first. If you are new to shelving, ask me or an
experienced volunteer to check them for accuracy. I have recently found
Professional material (teachers only) shelved in the Nonfiction and Beginning
Readers (green dot with a BR on top of the spine) shelved on regular Easy
shelves.
When you are finished with desk routines, please read the shelves. That means
checking to see that books are in order and in their correct section. I will
put out a check off list of sections so everyone knows which shelves have been
checked.
As you read the shelves, please pull off any books that look damaged or
extremely old and set aside for me to check.
Wed. Nov. 25 is an early dismissal day which means the schedule will be
adjusted to 25 minute sessions. There is also a program that morning so the
first grades may only be coming to return and borrow books. If you would like
a copy of the schedule, please email me on Mon.
If I don't see you this week, have a very Happy Thanksgiving, knowing that
what you give to our school and library is greatly appreciated. Thank you, all.
