Second and third graders will learn how to find the books they want in the
library by using OPAC, our Online Public Access Catalog. They will also learn
how to identify the title, author, call number, and copyright date and how to
use that information to locate the book on the library shelves.
Each year students practice fact finding and simple research including the
importance of giving credit to the source of our information. Students will be
expected to write down the title, author, copyright date, and page number of
each book, and the URL of each website they use as an introduction to
copyright protection and preparation for the full bibliographies they will be
expected to include in writing at higher grade levels.
