Now that September is coming to an end and the children have had time to
adjust to their new kindergarten routine and environment, 2 homeowrk
assignments will be given out each night. One will be a math sheet
reflecting the skill(s) that we have learned in class and the other will be
an Integrated Language Arts sheet or assignmnet like the "Sound Muncher".
Speaking of the "Sound Muncher", please help your child remember the rules
for feeding him.
We are learning the letter Rr and Tt this week and continuing to review the
letters Mm and Ss. Please help your child practice writing those letters and
recognizing their beginning sounds.
Make a special word box with your child to store all of the high frequency
word cards that will come home throughout the school year. The first 3 words
we are learning in K-2 are "I", "a" and "my". They have already been sent
home.
Two pre-decodable books have been sent home for your childrn to read. Please
save these books and encourage your child to read them to you often.
In math we are learning about sorting.
Continue to help your child practice how to write their names using our
kindergarten guidelines. Extra practice at home will be very beneficial for
all children! They are doing a great job!
When homework is assigned you can help your child to be prepared at home by
having the necessary tools to successfuly complete it. Children should always
have a sharpened pencil and very often homework assignments will require
crayons, scissors and glue sticks!
All homework worksheets should be signed by a parent or guardian.
