Homework

A homework sheet will be sent home every Friday for the following
week. We will attach a sheet with the reading flashcard “high frequency
words” for the following week’s story. Please cut these apart and keep them
at home in a safe place such as a Ziploc bag or a shoebox. Your child
should practice reading these words as part of their daily homework and
eventually be able to read these words independently. It is also a great
idea to read with your child for at least 15 minutes each evening, in
addition to any other homework. A good time for this is right before
bedtime.
Homework assignments are very important to reinforce skills and are to
be handed in on time. In the event of an emergency when homework cannot be
completed, please write me a note. Unexcused, late or missing assignments
will result in grades being lowered. Your child should not be spending more
than a half hour on homework each evening. If this occurs, please let me
know.
