Classroom Rules & Procedures

To insure that your child has the most productive and safest school year, the following classroom discipline plan will be in effect at all times.

Classroom Rules

1.   Follow directions the first time they are given.
2.  Be prepared for class.
3.   Respect the rights and property of others.
4.   Always say nice things to each other.
5. Walk quietly in the building.

We have a color chart in our classroom. If a student chooses to break a rule, the following will result:

1st offense (Yellow)                       Warning
2nd offense (Orange)                      Loss of privilege or recess
3rd offense   (Red)                         Call home and or sent to the principal
Severe Disruption                           Immediately sent to the principal

Behavior Reflection Sheet: When a child does not finish the day on green, they will have to complete a behavior reflection sheet. This allows them to think about the poor choices he/she made and also think about how they can turn his/her day around by making better choices. This will be sent home for you to read, so please sign and return after discussing with your child. Please encourage appropriate, positive behavior and address any behavior or work habits that need atttention.

Students who behave appropriately and remain on green will be rewarded with praise, stickers, notes, treats, and various other rewards.

Homework: Your child will be given homework daily. Please initial their green homework tablets every night whether or not they have assignments. Announcements on test dates, assignment due dates, and reminders will be recorded in the tablets as well. If your child does not have his/her homework, then your child will miss part or all of recess the next day to finish any assignments. They will also miss 15 minutes on Fun Friday for every homework assignment missed. Fun Friday is every other Friday afternoon and for those students who do their best work and complete all assignments throughout the week. They will have this time to enjoy special activities that include science experiments, project time, arts and crafts, etc.

Snacks: The students enjoy having a snack mid-morning to help them through their busy morning. I am asking that every parent send in only one healthy snack. No chips, candy or juice please. Any unhealthy snacks will not be allowed.
