Week of May 13, 2013
In math, we are continuing to work on multiplication and division, please
have your child study their facts daily. I did give students flashcards and
they are to study their facts every night. We will have timed multiplication
quizzes for 3 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday. These will not be graded,
but children are racing to complete their facts and earn their multiplication
license. They all will start with the two times tables and will pass on to
the next set once they successfully passed each set with no mistakes in three
minutes.
In reading, we are still working on reviewing skills for comprehension in
small groups. We are currently reviewing for the NJ ASK. Please encourage
your children to keep a journal and write in it frequently using the skills
we learn in class. You should also encourage them to search for "Story Ideas"
everywhere.
Continue to look in your child's folders and homework tablets for important
reminders and papers.
Please read with your child every night for at least 20 minutes. Children may
also work on study Island at home with the usernames and passwords they have.
Important dates:
May 13, 14, 15 and 16: NJ ASK testing. Please make sure your child gets
plenty of rest and has a good breakfast every morning.
