Spelling Homework
Spelling work will always be in a separate book. Each week you will find the
spelling list and a small baggie with word letters. The daily assignments
might vary so read through them carefully.
THIS WEEK:
Each night have your child read the list. They should point to each letter
and sound them out with tap and sweep method. (I will explain this at Back to
School)
Monday- Use cards and practice forming each word. Put letters onto the given
colored paper for better contrast.
Tuesday- Copy each word making a list in your spelling book.
Wednesday- Orally make up a sentence with each word. Ask your parent to
please write your best one in the Spelling book. You then copy it underneath.
If your child wants to write the sentence without your visual cue, on their
own, go for it.
Thursday-Study all words. Use your cards to spell words, and then orally
spell words to you Mom or Dad. Then practice writing them as someone dictates
them to you.
Some alternative studying ideas-
• Lay a thin surface of flour in a cookie sheet and ‘write’ your words
• Use noodles to form each letter
• Use playdoh to create each word
• Using water, a paintbrush and a brown paper bag ‘paint’ you r words.
