About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
I have been a teacher in the Sayreville School District since 1976. I began in what was then the Junior High School, teaching 8th grade Language Arts & Social Studies, for six months as a replacement teacher. I went on to Arleth School to teach grades 4,6 and 2 for a period of ten years. I became the TAG teacher September of '88 and served both Arleth and Eisenhower for 18 years until I moved to the SUES. I continue to love the challenge of this position and work hard to meet the needs of the students I teach. In spring, 2009,I was awarded a fellowship by the Gifted Child Society to attend the Univeristy of Connecticut's Gifted "Confratute," a world renowned conference/institute on gifted education. I attended for one week in July which was an experience that brought cluster grouping to my attention and became something I hoped to include in the SUES. I have twice received both the NJ Governor's Teacher of the Year Award, and Who's Who Among Teachers. I was also a recipient of WMGQ's Teachers Who Make Magic Award in 2008. On March 14, 2012, I was awarded the "Teacher as Hero" Award from the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia. PA.
Mission Label:
Mission
It is my mission to provide TAG students with a unique academic education in a supportive environment, which promotes self descipline, motivation, creative expression and excellence in learning. It is my goal to encourage these students to become independent learners and go on to make both educational and social contributions within their community.
