Project #1:Orangutan Collages

Awareness is Spreading...

Students spent time researching comapnies that are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Students then collected labels from products that belong to those companies. Students created orangutan cut out collages that are on display outside our cafeteria. Every student and teacher in the school walks by the display each day on their way to the lunchroom. Our school has over 1,100 students that attend. In addition, the display will be up for our school's annual Family Reading Night. At Family Reading Night two pairs of teachers have taking on the orangutan cause to continue to spread the word to families. The Sayreville Post Office even donated 100 pre-paid post cards for families to write messages to companies encouraging them to join the RSPO. Students from our class will also be attending Family Reading Night to respond to questions about Orangutan Awareness and our Unless Contest. Students worked on preparing and putting our projects on display for the last 3 months. Awareness has been spreading throughout our school as many classes have joined our cause. The display you see pictured also features our photoshop projects (see project #2) as well as leaf writing that we did. Students wrote messages on leaves explaining various facts about orangutans, where the live, why they are endangered, and what we can do to help. Various parts of our display can be seen in the pictures.
