Rules and Consequences

Miss Downs Rules and Consequences

Rules

In order to have a fun and safe learning environment, we all need to follow the rules of the art room.

1. Enter the classroom calmly and quietly then wait for directions.

2. Respect yourself, others and our classroom.

(This means that we all use constructive criticism, we respect classmates' personal space and artwork, we respect our own efforts and we take care of the art room and art tools.)

3. Use Materials properly.

(All art tools and materials are only used for making art. It can be very fun to pretend one object is another, but this game is best saved for another time and place. In order to keep everyone in our classroom safe, art materials may only be used for their true purpose.)

4. Ask and receive permission before leaving the room for any reason.

(If you would like to get a drink, use the bathroom or need to leave for band or to be picked up early, please let Miss Downs know. It is important for teachers to know where the students are at all times so we know that you are safe.)

Consequence System

1. The first warning is a reminder to behave. Students are given first warning verbally. (color coded as a green warning)

2. The second warning occurs if the behavior persists. Second warnings result in a student being removed from their group table to sit by themselves for the rest of the class period. A report is made to their classroom teacher upon pick up. (color coded as a yellow warning)

3. A third warning sends a student to the office. (color coded as a red warning)
