December 21, 2009
Only a few days to go before Christmas Vacation. The children have been so
excited these past few weeks. In language arts we will work on our new theme
called past, present and future. In math we will focus on chapter 7 which
covers statistics and probability. We will continue to study plant and animal
life cycles as well as food chains. In social studies we will focus on the
Jamestown Settlement in Virginia. The students will learn about the area then
and now. In religion we will focus on Chapter 10 which reviews the Apostles'
Creed. There will be a test on Unit 2 after the New Year.
Don't forget to dress down on Monday. This is a special dress down for your
class for doing a fantastic job at the Christmas Show last week. There is
also a dress down on Tuesday for the whole school. In addition
to our regular schoolwork we will be making cards and crafts for the elderly
for Christmas. We will have a small party on Wednesday after mass in our
classroom. Please send in a note or e-mail me if you would like to send
something in. I would like to have bagels, cream cheese, butter and juice. If
you would like to send in treats to send home please make sure they are store
bought with labels. Please do not send in any items containing peanuts. I'm
sure I'll see many of you at mass on Wednesday morning. It's our special
Christmas mass. The second grade and grades 5-8 chorus will be leading us in
prayer and song.
I do hope all of you have a very Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New
Year. Enjoy your vacation and your time spent with family and friends.
Check the communication envelope for other details and information.
Make it a great week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Monet Burns-Wilmott
