Week of 11/30:
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Please note the following for this week:
Reading Log due;
Tuesday- St. Nick Sale; typically, children may "add" to their
uniform (Christmas sweatshirt, headband, Santa hat, etc.). Please
check communication envelope for details).
Tuesday evening, the chorus will perform in Brunswick Square Mall.
Thursday- band and chorus concert in school.
Friday- pack an extra shoe or slipper for a visit from St. Nick!
12:00 dismissal. Lunch is served.
This week will be another busy week.
In Religion, we will learn about Advent and will continue
to prepare for Reconciliation.
In Reading and Writing Workshop, we will read "There's Nothing Like Baseball."
We will also read Leveled Readers. We will write a friendly letter to
Santa. We will also practice contractions. We will practice drawing
conclusions and making inferences. We will practice adding 's and s' to make
possesive nouns. Phonics/Spelling focus is on long o spelled ow, oa, o, and
oe. We are learning to write in script. We will also read "The Important
Book" and will begin to create a Christmas book.
In Math, please continue to study facts. There is a test on 14+ and 14-
facts on Friday. We are learning about plane shapes and are using geoboards
to learn about sides, vertices, congruency, and symmetry. We will also paint
symmetrical snowflakes. We are beginning to learn to add 2-two digit numbers.
In Science, we will describe and compare life cycles of animals. We will use
the Smart Board and Power Point presentations to help with this. We will
create posters and will begin to write imaginary stories about our animals
over the next few weeks. Look for a study guide and information about a
project coming home this week.
In Social Studies, we wills learn landforms.

Jan. 4- Reconciliation Mini-retreat;
Jan. 14- First Penance 7:00 pm;
Feb. 1- Enrollment Ceremony 7:00 pm Mass;
March 3- Mini-retreat 7:00pm Mass;
May 8- First Eucharist 10:00 am (Rehearsal May 5 at 6:30 pm).
May 26- class trip to Theater Works, USA
