As the Church year comes to an end, we should look back and reflect on how we have lived our lives in the name of Jesus. What better time to do this than as we sit down to a Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends and thank God for these blessings. We wish each and every one a very blessed Thanksgiving.
EMERGENCY PHONE CHAIN TEST
We will be conducting an emergency phone test on Monday, November 23 starting at 7:00 PM. Please expect a voice message from ParentREACH a school emergency notification system. If you do not receive a phone call, please contact the school office on Tuesday, November 24. Please remember this is only a test.

“TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS” UPDATE
All students and chaperones who are attending the performance please make sure to READ and KEEP the enclosed BLUE flyer for December 8, 2009. School WILL be open for students not attending the performance! This is a FULL DAY OF SCHOOL with After Care available.
THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Applications are now being accepted for students entering grades K through 8 for the 2010 – 2011 academic year. Scholarships are based on financial need and are awarded without regard to religion, race or ethnicity. The deadline is January 15, 2010. Please stop by the school office for an application.
PARISH TREE LIGHTING
Saint James the Apostle Parish and School Community will be holding its fourth annual tree lighting service on Saturday, December 5, after the 5:00 PM Mass. Join in the first preparations for the Christmas season by praying, singing and sharing some refreshments with friends, (old and new) and family. If you have a special Christmas cookie to share with others, please bring a dozen or two, it would be greatly appreciated.
HEALTH OFFICE UPDATE: Final reminder for PreK-3 and PreK-4 students.
All children in PreK-3 and PreK-4 are REQUIRED to have an annual seasonal influenza immunization between September 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Please make sure that documentation / proof of immunization is provided. If your child does not have the flu vaccine administered by December 31, 2009, they will not be able to return to school on January 4, 2010. NO EXCEPTIONS. HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP
After the Thanksgiving break, the children will be given an opportunity to purchase gifts for their family and friends at OUR Holiday Gift Shop. Each student will receive a flyer and an envelope in today’s brown envelope.
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
St. Joseph’s Social Services of Elizabeth has asked for our help. They are in need of shampoo and conditioners to complete the toiletry Christmas Baskets. This drive is on a voluntary basis, but all donations should be made by December 9.
