Welcome to 1-A. Check here for special events and announcements.

It's hard to believe it's the end of January and the only snow day we've had
came in October. Dare I hope we will escape February with as much mild
weather?

You may have heard from your child that we have a student intern working with
us. Miss Niero is a student from Centenary College and will spend the next
six weeks with us before moving on to intern with Mrs. Venturini. Miss Niero
will gradually take on the lead role in the classroom under my guidance.
Please feel free to come and meet her at dismissal time.

Here's some of the topics we are currently addressing in class.
**In Phonics class, we are concentrating on long vowel sounds. We are
focusing on the variety of ways to spell long vowel sounds.

** Verbs in all their tense forms are the main focus in Grammar. We continue
to review nouns and proper nouns.

** Our new math book continues to challenge our students to apply a variety
of strategies to solve math problems. I have heard from several parents that
it is difficult to help your child with some of the math homework. The
approaches presented in the math text seem complicated but within the class
lessons, they are really well applied. If homework seems too complicated or
if your child seems lost, please feel free to jot me a note to let me know.

P.S. Don't forget when packing snacks, we are the nut free classroom.
