What does my grade consist of?
The grade you will earn in Italian class is based on a points system. The worth of the assessment is based on its requirements, difficulty and the amount of time you are given to work on it. Assessments worth can range from 5- 200 points each. Assessments can fall into one of two categories: * Speaking/Listening/ Participation: This includes: oral participation grades, spoken interaction/role-plays, spoken interviews, oral presentations of projects, and listening assessments. * Reading/Writing/ Grammar: This includes: reading and contextual written grammar assessments, projects, notebook checks, essays, and homework assignments collected and graded. Each marking period, there will be a homework preparedness grade worth 100 points. See below for how this works! The total points one can earn will vary by marking period. A very simple way of calculating your grade is dividing the points youve earned by the points possible. This will be kept on your grade sheet.Back to Top
If you missed any work due to an absence and the work was assigned prior to the absence, it is due on the day of your return. Any work handed in after this time will be considered late. All make-ups will be made with the teacher the day of your return. Failure to do this will result in no credit for all incomplete/missing work Assessments: Students will know days in advance before an oral or written assessment. Therefore an absence the day before does not exempt students from an assessment. PLEASE BE SURE TO CONSULT YOUR FOLDER FOR YOUR "WHILE YOU WERE OUT" updateBack to Top
Oh no! I forgot my homework!!! Am I going to fail now?
No, you will not fail for missing a homework assignment. Remember, your homework is one grade out of 100 points. For each missing homework assignment, I will deduct 5 points. If I collect the homework assignment, I will let you hand it in the next day ONLY for half credit (I will only deduct 3 points). However, if we go over the homework assignment the day it is due in class, you may not make it up for credit. I do recommend, however, that you complete it and check it with a classmate's so that you can use it to study for a quiz.Back to Top
I don't know what the homework is! What do I do!?
You can click on the "Compiti" page for your class and I will usually update it with the assignment. However, this is not the most reliable means. It is YOUR responsibility to write down your homework on a daily basis. You may want to make sure you have one or two other classmates' phone numbers or IMs so you can ask them if you forget to write it down.Back to Top

May I do extra credit to boost my grade?
For the most part, I do not offer extra credit. If I offer extra credit, I will announce it to the entire class. I do not give individual extra credit assignments. *You can work on a "Ho finito" assignment for extra points only if you finish your work in class on early.Back to Top
Notebook checks!? Oh no! How do I keep my notebook in order?

How do I get in touch with Signorina Pugliese outside of school?
The best means of contact with me is e-mail. My school e-mail address is mpugliese@spfk12.org. I will check my e-mail at least once each evening after school. Parents can also call my school phone and leave me a voice mail. I check my voice mail once each morning, and sometimes one more time during the course of the day.Back to Top
Students, you may calculate your own average. I will give you a grade sheet at the beginning of each marking period. As you get back each assignment, you will be responsible for entering it onto the grade sheet. Parents are the ONLY ONES who have access to students' grades on mygradebook.com. Parents may choose a password so that they may monitor their child's progress as the school year progresses.Back to Top
