FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions MzA is often asked while at school.
How are my grades figured out for MzA's classes?
What do I need to bring to MzA's classes? You must always have 2 pens (that work!), a notebook/binder, a folder, your VOCABULARY WORKSHOP book, your planner, any other book/text we may be using, possibly other items for particular projects we're working on, and an open-mind and good attitude to be ready to learn ;) What happens if I don't know what the homework is? Check the homework page on this site (duh!), check the board in room B-9, check Miss Abel's planner on the HOMEWORK chalkboard ledge in room B-9, check your own planner (maybe you wrote it down but forgot ;) check with a friend, or check with me personally, MzA! What should I do if I don't understand an assignment? Listen, pay attention and ask questions, silly! Reread any directions, think back to what was discussed/done in class and then find help. Either myself or your classmates will be happy to help you. Remember I'd rather you tried and put some effort into your work than for you to just give up. Give it a shot! You are smarter than you think... Why did the chicken cross the road? To prove he wasn't chicken ;) What if I lost something in class? Look inside Monsieur Perdu-Trouve (Mister Lost and Found), R2D2's French cousin who sits in the front of the room to the left of the first metal bookcase. If your lost item is not there, perhaps it is in the school's lost and found in the cafeteria. How many languages do you speak? I'm unable to divulge that number at this time... What is FILA, MILA, LILA and ACCL? FILA, MILA and LILA are simply acronyms given to differentiate each of my three language arts classes based on the time of day when I have that group of students. ACCL is a preview class, for a few of my language arts students who may otherwise have some trouble in language arts, that acts as a 'heads up' to what will be going on during class later that day. These class names were given so myself and my students can easily identify who is in which class and what may be going on in a particular class. FILA= First Integrated Language Arts Class 8:00-9:30 am MILA= Middle Integrated Language Arts Class 9:30-10:30 am/12:00-12:30 pm ACCL= Acceleration Lab (language arts) 11:00-11:30 am LILA= Last Integrated Language Arts Class 1:00-2:30 pm How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? 300 times the amount of corn a woodchuck could shuck if a woodchuck could shuck corn... Do you really ride your bike to school? Yes, I take the 'Rusty Plum' when I don't have too much to carry and if it's not REALLY cold or raining. In a house... Fuzzy wuzzy wasn't really fuzzy, wuz he? Well... Can I water the plants Miss Abel? Yes, you may. Well I hope you can by seventh grade. What if the question I need an answer to is not on this page? Then come talk to me in person in Room B-9, call my classroom ext. 291, e- mail me at abel@upperschools.org, or drop a note in my comment/question box located on top of the small metal bookcase under the bulletin board next to the door in Room B-9 and I'll try and answer any question you may have. |
