Homework

Our homework schedule will usually follow this pattern...
Mondays- Sign and return spelling quiz book and copy your new words neatly
into your planner
Tuesdays- Math worksheet
Wednesdays- Read the book that comes home with a family member (usually a
reread for fluency, but at times it might be an appropriate
enrichment/extensional book of your child's choosing
Thursdays- Spelling page and study for the spelling test
Fridays-Usually no homework

Throughout the year, there will also be a few long-term research
assignments.

Occasionally, a student has difficulty with time management at school and
does not complete classwork on time. These assignments will be sent home
clearly marked "Finish for HW". Please help your child to finish and return
the assignment the next day. Sometimes, if a child is out of the room
working with another teacher, I may send home a page "FYI" or "just for
fun". This is usually at the child's request, and is not homework. You may
wish to save it for a rainy day.

Homework should be completed and returned the next day. In addition, it is
your child's responsibility to ask you to check the homework and sign
his/her planner every day. Students earn homework passes and other prizes
for handing in homework on time. Please contact me if homework becomes
frustrating or overwhelming.
