FOOD EXCLUSIONS FOR CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS

On September 1, 2007, the Upper Township School District was required to abide by the following
restrictions for classroom celebrations. The foods on the list below, are not permitted for any
school sponsored activities.(During school hours):

FOODS OF MINIMAL NUTRITIONAL VALUE (FMNV)

The following food items are not permitted for classroom celebrations( Halloween, Thanksgiving,
Winter break, Spring break, Valentine's Day, etc;):

Soda water.

Water ices, which contain less than 100% fruit juice.

Chewing gum.

Certain candies: Hard candy such as sour balls, fruit balls, candy sticks (candy canes).
lollipops, starlight mints, after dinner mints, sugar wafers, rock candy, cinnamon candies,
breath mints, jaw breakers, and cough drops.

Jellies and gums: Includes such foods as gumdrops, jellybeans, jellied and fruit-flavored slices.

Marshmallow candies.

Fondant: Includes such foods as candy corn and soft mints.

Licorice.

Spun candy (Cotton candy).

Candy coated popcorn.
