Happy November!! October flew by, and now, with Halloween 's excitement behind us, we prepare for the holidays beginning with Thanksgiving. November is Native American Heritage month, and so, we will focus on the lives and contributions of the "Indians" and American's founding and settlement. We will be focusing on four new sight words: "and", "I", "is", and "said". We will continue to learn about the five vowels in November, and their importance as the building blocks of words. Please continue to read the take-home readers with your children, and to practice the sight words learned thus far. The class will learn the "an" family, have fun with opposites, and learn about the ocean and the sea life that fills it We will add the oval and the octagon to our shapes, continue to work with estimation. and the values of numbers. We will also experiment with patterns. We will begin with simple "AB-AB" patterns, and move to more complex patterns as the children's pattern-making skills strengthen. We will continue to experience spatial and quantitative concepts. Greenhouse will continue on those Fridays in November when school is open. The children will experience activities which emphasize nature, the seasons, plants, soil, and much more. We will have another very busy and exciting month!!
