Can I turn in late homework?

No. I do not accept late homework. I expect all assignments to be completed
on the due dates. It is important to plan your time accordingly and to keep
up with the pace of the class. Maintaining good homework habits is one of
the keys to success in high school. Homework will be reviewed in class.

Can I turn in a lab late?

Labs will be accepted one day late for a penalty of 50% off your graded
assignment. Labs are an important part of the curriculum and support class
lectures. You will have more than ample time to complete you lab
assignments. If lab assignments are turned in early, you will receive 5

Do you give extra credit?

Various times throughout the year extra credit assignments will be provided.
However, only those students who have completed all prior work can submit
extra credit. Extra credit is NOT an alternate assignment. It is an
additional assignment. Also, any lab assignment turned in before the due
date will receive 5 extra credit points.

What happens if I miss a lab activity?

It is your responsibility to make up any and all missed work. Sometimes that
will involve staying after school to make up a missed lab. Other times
alternate assignments will be given. You must realize that questions from
the lab activity will appear on quizzes, tests and the final exam.

What if I need extra help?

I will be after school in the science office (located in the library)
Tuesdays and Thursdays to provide extra help. If you are planning to stay
for help, you must notify me beforehand. DO NOT wait until you are totally
lost before coming after school for help. A little help early will prevent
you from needing a lot of help later. Also, consider forming study groups. I
also have provided various links to web pages that have suggestions on how
to study most effectively.

What if I am absent on the day of a quiz or test?

As per the Student Handbook, you have 2 days per day absent to make up any
missed work. It is your resposibility to schedule a time (during your lunch,
after school or during class) to make up the missed quiz or test. Please
realize that missing a quiz or test may result in you taking an alternate
version of the quiz or test.

How will I know what my current grade is?

I post grades (based on a secret code) once a week in our main classroom.
There will NEVER be a time when you don't know EXACTLY what your current
grade is in this class.
(Make sure you keep your secret code secret.)
