I grew up outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In high school, I played
basketball, ran cross country and track. I was also a drum major in the
marching band, played tenor sax for the jazz band, and flute in the county
band. Vocally, I was a member of the Main choir, the Girl’s choir, the
Select choir and the Jazz choir. I also enjoyed roles in the school musicals
Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, and Once Upon a Mattress. A member of the
National Honor Society, I graduated with a Distinguished Scholars Degree.
I then went on to earn my undergraduate Bachelor’s of Science Degree in
Biology from Gettysburg College. At Gettysburg, I was a guard for the
Women’s Basketball Team (The Lady Bullets) and an active member of Alpha Xi
Delta Sorority.
I am currently working on completing my Masters in Biological Sciences with
a chemistry concentration from the University of Maryland. I will be working
on an independent research project through William Paterson University this
fall. The focus of my research involves recombinant DNA technology.
Since I have a passion for athletics, I have coached the freshman girl’s
basketball team for five successful seasons. Last year’s team ended their
season with an impressive 16 – 4 record. Last year also marked the first
season for me as coach of the girl’s freshman lacrosse team. We had our
first ever freshman victory over Montclair, which wound up being the high
point of a strong 10 – 4 – 2 season.
When not in the classroom, lab or on the playing field, you can find me and
my IPod romping around with my “ZOO”. I have 3
German Shepherds (Sampson, Max and Neo), a cat (Idew Bitty the Kitty),
a red backed terrapin turtle (IT), two zebra finches (Elvis and Pracilla),
and a variety of fish.
Well, now you know a bit about me and I am looking forward to learning a bit
about you! So let’s hear it for a fun and successful year together.
It is my mission to positively promote education; to spark the "enthusiasm
to learn" within each student; and to provide the foundation for insight,
knowledge, discernment, and wisdom within individuals as they become
lifelong learners. Developing these skills is essential for the growth,
prosperity, and conscientious decision making necessary for our society.
