IT’S COOL TO CARE!
DECEMBER 2009
	H1N1 CLINIC - Many thanks to the volunteers whose assistance enabled
building, district, township and county staff to complete the first stage of
H1N1 clinics. Nasal spray vaccines and Saturday clinics will be announced
based upon the availability of the vaccine, which is distributed through the
Middlesex County Health Department. We also appreciate that you are
regularly updating Mrs. Cahillane, our school nurse, if and when your child’s
status changes. For instance, many students who are scheduled to receive the
vaccine have already received it through their other opportunities. Please
continue to keep us updated.
	Illness Monitoring – During this flu season, it is imperative that
the school track the instances of all communicable diseases, including any
type of flu. Please remember to call in your child’s absence to the front
office (613-6880) and describe the type of illness. With up to date data, we
are better able to maintain a safe and healthy environment for your child.
	PTA Holiday Sale – PTA volunteers will provide opportunities for your
children to shop for gifts for their families and friends at the PTA Holiday
Sale on December 9 and 10. Students love the opportunity to think about each
person’s personality and choose a “just right” gift. Lots of thoughtful
decision making occurs on those days.
	American Education Week Open School Day – Many thanks to all the
parents who took time from their busy days to visit your children’s classes
on November 17th. We continue to appreciate your support and encouragement.
Your comments regarding the day provide important feedback about what is
important to you as parents. Thanks again for another successful parent-
school activity.
	Craft/Vendor Night - The parents of fifth grade students will hold a
vendor night at Warnsdorfer on Thursday night, December 3rd @ 7:00 pm. It
will be a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping. Proceeds will be
used to fund special fifth grade activities.
	Classroom holiday parties will be held @ 2:15 on Tuesday, December
22nd. Please contact your child’s room mother if you are interested in
participating in this event. Do not send in any food items that have not
been cleared through the room mother.
	Outdoor Recess – Please be aware that students will go outside daily
for 20 minutes following lunch. The only exceptions to this routine are due
to the following weather conditions: precipitation, accumulated snow on the
playground, extreme cold or high winds. At times, students will go outside to
play on the blacktop only. Students may not be excused from outdoor recess
unless they have a doctor’s note. Please dress your children for the
weather. Daily outdoor exercise is an effective deterrent to the spread of
contagious diseases as well as an opportunity to practice a healthy life
style.
	Once again, thank you for your continued support of your children and
their school success. We are most blessed to work with such a supportive
community. On behalf of the entire school staff, I wish you a very happy
holiday season and a joyous new year.
