What do I do if my child continuosly leaves homework at school? Before leaving the classroom all students must check out with Mrs. Kurdes. All materials necessary for homework are organized and ready to be put into the backpack. If these materials are not coming home, please call and I will monitor your child's organizational skills more closely. What should I do if my child does not finish homework? On those rare occasions when homework is not finished, please write a note in the assignment pad. It would be helpful to know why your child did not complete the assignment so we can solve any future difficulties. What should I do if I need to tell the teacher something? There are several ways to get in touch with Mrs. Kurdes. One way is to call the school at 732-613-6880 and leave a voice mail message. Another way is to write a note in the assignment pad. As I check assignment pads daily, you can be sure that I will see any note you've sent. In addition, you can always send an email. The address is akurdes@ebnet.org. I check my email daily - I will respond the day I receive your email or the next day. What should I do if my child doesn't like to read? One of the most important things your child can do to improve their reading skills is to READ. Make sure the book they've chosen is not too difficult or search for books that are on a topic that your child truly enjoys. Do they have a hobby or favorite pasttime? Find books about that and the problem may be solved. What if my child doesn't want to complete the reading assignment? To make this imnportant reading time a little more enjoyable try reading with your child. Mom or Dad's undivided attention is always welcome at the end of a long day. Discuss the chapter or section with your child and ask questions to guide them towards the important information. |
