They are meant to help and not cause any undue stress to the student.    Get a good night’s sleep prior to testing. Have a good breakfast on testing days.  Bring a new, interesting book to read while waiting between tests.  Use the bathroom before school. Arrive at school on time.  Stay home if you are sick.  Review testing rules at home: ·       Relax!!!!! ·       Eyes on own paper ·       No talking to neighbors ·       If you don’t know an answer, make your best guess and move on ·       LISTEN to the directions! 4/23 HL 11.1 Reading Log There is no spelling sort this week. We will be going to the Scholastic book fair on Friday. Please continue the Grocery Shopping Game that was sent home yesterday.  Also, there was a Math Unit 10 Review packet sent home to be done over Spring Break.  These items do not have to be handed in.  Please use them as review and practice for the test on Wednesday. Social Studies Unit 2 test will come home today.  Please sign and return. Allergy Alert:  <div>We are a peanut/nut free classroom.  Please send in "nut free" items for snack. So what kinds of foods are good to bring to a nut-free classroom? Here are some ideas.  Always check labels on packaged foods. <ul type="disc"><li>Fresh fruit. Bananas are popular year-round, apples and pears are great in the fall, and clementines are easy to peel and available through the winter, just to name a few.</li><li>Cheese. Most cheese is nut-free, including kid-friendly string cheese and convenient cheese cubes.</li><li>Vegetables. Baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower are among the vegetables some kids will eat raw. Small containers of plain yogurt, salad dressing, or sour cream may be good dips.</li><li>Raisins and other dried fruits.</li><li>Pudding cups.</li><li>Air-popped popcorn.</li><li>Applesauce. The healthiest and most convenient type is unsweetened applesauce in single-serving cups.</li><li>Fruit snacks.</li></ul> Birthday Celebrations:New for 2011 "The Birthday Book Bash" Birthdays will be celebrated with nonfood items.  I would like to request that you choose to donate a book to our classroom library in honor of your child's birthday.  I will be writing "Happy Birthday" to your child on the inside and cover and have the class sign the book.  I will read the book aloud to the class on your child's birthday.  I'm looking forward to making this a very special celebration that the class will look forward to!  Summer birthdays may choose any date to celebrate in the classroom. Pencils: In order to maximize learning time, I ask that students take home their soft pencil case daily and sharpen pencils. Every morning students need to be prepared with at least 4 sharpened pencils.
