Carol thanked Sonia Klein for working on the sale of the Kid Stuff Books.
The turn-out was more than we targeted. Fundraisers currently in progress
are the Ashley Farms Pie Sale and School Pictures. Orders are coming in for
both. Carol also thanked all those who volunteered at the Walk-a-Thon.
Envelopes are still being counted and the final count will be reported at
the next meeting. Carol pointed out that we have a variety of fundraisers,
and we don’t expect everyone to participate in all of them. A flyer will be
sent home to let people know what we at Warnsdorfer collect for recycling
and fundraising, such as printer cartridges, pop tabs, Campbell Soup labels,
and Box Tops.
Treasurer:
Roberta presented the proposed budget for the 2007-08 school year. Several
minor changes were made to the budget prior to the meeting: The income from
printer cartridges was change to zero due to the fact that the check is
written directly to the school. Legally, it must go into a district account
that the PTA will be involved in the decision process for spending. Also,
due to issues of bio-terrorism and child nutrition regulations, the PTA will
no longer be providing lunch on Field Day. Fifth grade parents requested
that their proposed budget of $2,500 be increased to $3,200. Sonia Klein
motioned to increase the amount. Mary Bouffard seconded the motion. The
motion was carried and voted yes by the majority. Linda Marmora suggested
that the fifth grade parents form a focus group to begin planning the
activities. Michelle Wood volunteered to head the committee.
Principal’s Report:
Mrs. Grafas thanked the cultural arts committee for the upcoming
assemblies. She also thanked the community as a whole for understanding and
cooperating with the new nutritional guidelines for the well being of our
children. Parents can order birthday treats through the child nutrition
department or send in their own treats provided they are on the list of
acceptable snacks. We have a total of 545 students this year. The bus
situation has gone very smoothly so far this year thanks to the new Director
of Transportation. Mrs. Grafas also stated the importance of emergency
contact phone numbers.
Teacher Liaisons:
Mrs. Bastolla thanked the PTA for the wonderful breakfast of the first day
and for the gifts to students. She also thanked the PTA for the recent
Mozart assembly. The children enjoyed the show. Mrs. Bastolla also
reported that 65 students are currently signed up for Early Act.
Mrs. Taylor Thanked the PTA for putting the Walk-a-Thon together. She also
thanked the PTA on behalf of all the teachers for the Kid Stuff books.
Finally, Mrs. Taylor thanked the PTA for the agendas for the 3rd, 4th, and
5th graders. They are instrumental in the classroom.
