Hola y Bienvenidos
My program has begun another exciting year in each of the eight elementary
schools. Because I travel to many different schools, teaching approximately
400 students, it is impossible for me to schedule conferences.
The curriculum is developed around three themes,
Our School, Our Neighborhood, and Ourselves.
Within these themes the children learn greetings, feelings, family, clothing,
classroom objects, calendar, colors, numbers, foods, transportation and
more. While teaching vocabulary as a base, children are given real life
practical situations to practice and utilize the language. For example, after
learning clothing they perform a fashion show narrating in Spanish.
Classroom objects vocabulary is a base for a school store role-play activity
where the children buy and sell objects in the target language.
After learning about calendar and weather the children are asked to do
weather broadcasting and predictions.
I hope you find this information helpful and I hope it has answered your
questions about the foreign language program. I enjoy working with your
children and find it extremely rewarding to see how eager they are to speak a
new languge.
