General Health Links

Excellent resource for CURRENT health information covering all
three aspects of the health triangle; physical, mental and
social. Articles are short and well written. Site is divided
into 3 categories; Parents, Teens, and Kids. In the "Kids"
section there are interactive games in the "game closet". There
they have "how the body works" as well as video clips that are
excellent for all age groups. Please preview first. They do use
appropriate terminology but often refer to common names like poop
and pee. "My Body" has articles on all parts of the body with
interactive diagrams. I suggest using the NON-SHOCKWAVE
version. The shockwave version has lots of burping, bells and
whistles that could be distracting when teaching.
Kidshealth.org

This is the New Jersey Poison and Information internet site.
They have good information and free materials you can order. The
students really like the "Look-a-Like Poster" I have in my office
which compares poisons to popular candies and drinks. Quick games
on Carbon monoxide poisoning and Lead poisoning are available
under the "Fun" section. You can print out activity handouts
that can be copied and used in a lesson.
 Poison Information - New Jersey

The "kid's club" section has an interactive flashcard game as a
fun way to teach 1st graders about the mouth and oral health. The
trivia is interesting and Captain Supertooth does answer
questions young students may ask. The Wisdom Tooth is a great
resource for up-to-date dental hygiene information.

one's differences as positive attributes to enhance self esteem.
The "Kids' section has interactive games and activities with
lesson plans to accompany them. I have the Rhinos and
Raspberries, Tolerance Tales for the Early Grades in the health
