Health and Phys Ed Rules

                    Sayreville Middle School 
         Physical Education Rules/Grading Procedures
                        Mr. Martucci
                         Grades 7-8

Physical Education Attire:
1)T-Shirts must have sleeves.
2)Shorts must be an appropriate length for school.
3)No graphic or inappropriate shirts may be worn.  Students 
  wearing any such items will be asked to change and will  
  receive an unprepared for the class. 
4)Clothing that was worn to school that day must be changed.

Not Acceptable in Physical Education Class:
1)Gum
2)Jewelry (Watch, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc..)
3)Platform shoes, sandals, boots, or hard-soled shoes
4)Jackets
5)Combs, Picks, Hairbrushes

 Point Deduction as follows:
1)Not changed for class				-5pts
2)Not wearing appropriate sneakers		-5pts
3)Jewelry or Gum				-5pts
4)Unsafe Behavior				-5pts
5)Not Participating in class activity		-5pts
6)Unsportsmanlike Behavior			-5pts

Class Grades:
1)Students will be graded on preparation for class, class 
  participation, and effort.  
2)Both written and skill tests taken during marking period 
  will be factored into the final grade.

Daily Class Procedures:
1)Upon arrival to class students will quickly change into 
  their physical education attire and sit on the locker room benches.
2)Students will lock their clothing and personal belongings 
  inside of their locker.
      a.Students will be provided with a personal locker and lock 
        and will be responsible for locking their own lock.
3)Students will wait for the teacher to dismiss them from the 
  locker room into the gymnasium.  No student is permitted to leave 
  the locker room until they have been told.
4)Students must sit in their squads immediately after exiting 
  locker room and entering gymnasium.  

Excused from class:
1)Any student who brings in a note from their doctor must be 
  handed in to the school nurse during homeroom.
2)Any excuse from the nurse must be given to the teacher in 
  the locker room prior to the start of class.
3)Any notes from a parent must also be given to the teacher in 
  the locker room prior to the start of class.  A parent�s note may 
  only excuse a child for two days from class.  Any longer than two 
  days, a note must be provided by a doctor.

 
           Health Education Rules/Grading Procedures

Classroom Procedures:
1)Students will enter and exit the classroom in an orderly fashion.
2)Upon entering the classroom students must sit in their assigned 
  seat and check for a do now on the board or on powerpoint.
3)Students will show respect to their teacher, fellow students, and  
  school property.
4)No food or gum is permitted in class.
5)Students must raise their hand to speak.  Anyone talking out of 
  turn will receive negative score in class participation.
6)Students must keep a folder of any handouts they receive in class.
7)Students are responsible to complete every class assignment. If 
  they are absent for class they are still responsible for the 
  assignment they missed.

Classroom Materials:
1)Pen or Pencil
2)Notebook or Lined Paper
3)Health Folder.

Health Grading Procedures:
1)Folder with handouts 
2)Any quizzes taken during marking period.
3)Any tests taken during marking period.
4)Homework and all class assignments.
5)Class Participation
6)Class Preparation
