Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Do you welcome volunteers and observers in your classroom?
Yes! Our school has an open door policy. Parents are welcome to observe in our classrooms at any time. I love having you come in to help, as well. Please let me know ahead of time if you will be available to volunteer. I appreciate it if you come by the classroom after school to talk with me about confidentiality before you come into the classroom to observe or volunteer. Then sign in in the office when you arrive.Back to Top
Parent input is one of my most valuable resources. I love to hear about your child's interests and about his or her progress at home. It's particularly helpful to hear about minor problems and concerns so that we can work together to resolve them before they become more serious. I will communicate with you using this website and a classroom newsletter. I will telephone or email you, send a note home, find a moment to bend your ear after school, or set up a conference as needed. I welcome your input, whether by email, school phone, home phone, or personal contact. I am happy to take calls at school, and am easiest to reach any time after 4:00 p.m. The school phone number is 255-8744; the secretary can page me if you call after school. If you call during school hours I'm usually unavailable to come to the phone because I'm with the children. In case of an urgent message (for example, if you need to let the school know that your car has broken down and you will be late to pick up your child) the school secretary can reach me on the intercom. You are also welcome to phone me at home before 8:00 p.m. I will distribute my home phone number during Open House.Back to Top
