I love first graders and am so excited to be your teacher. This is my fifth
year teaching 1st grade at Bandelier. I also have taught at a local private
school for five years. Before teaching, I had a career as a medical
technologist working in a hospital laboratory. I decided to become a teacher
after having my own children. I returned to college in 1997 to earn my
second bachelors degree. I graduated from College of Santa Fe in 2000 with a
Bachelors in Elementary Education. I also have my state licensure
endorsement in Teaching English to Second Language Learners (TESOL). I am
continuing to take graduate courses as I work on my Master's degree. My
husband and I have lived in Albuquerque for 20 years. We originally came
from North Carolina. We have three daughters- Melissa (college senior in
Texas), Caitlin (college sophomore in Los Angeles) and Sarah (10th grade).
Our family has two large dogs, Andy and Danny and a pet guinea pig named
Reeses.
I believe children should be active participants in their learning. I
respect the diversity and learning styles of all children. My goal is to
create a love of learning which will continue through out a child's life.
