About The Teacher

In 1990, I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English from
Texas State University, San Marcos. I began teaching first grade in Belen, NM at H.T. Jaramillo in
1991.
After our first child was born, I transfered to Adobe Acres in the south valley of Albuquerque. I
taught
first and second grades there until 2000 when I was hired at Bandelier. I have taught here ever since!
I finished my Masters degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science field
work at the University of New Mexico in May of 2008.
I now hold a level three license with an early childhood endorsement.
I have two children: daughter Cate, begins high school this year at Highland HS; son Turner, starts
middle school at Wilson MS. We are proud that both of our kids went through elementary school at
Bandelier! Clay and I have been married for 20 years this May and in addition to two beautiful
children, we have 2 dogs: a three-legged Jack Russel Terrorist named Otto and a fast but naughty
escape artist pointer mix named Django.

Mission Statement For our Class

We, the students of Mrs. Erwin’s third grade want to…
…learn to read better so we can read harder books,
…learn to write better so we can share our ideas,
…learn math better so we can go to college,
…learn science and history because it is cool and interesting to know new things.

We all agree to work hard and do our best, listen when others speak and we will be kind to each
other. We also promise to be safe. We will learn to make good choices that will help us to become
even better students and we will have FUN!
