Dear Families,

Thank you all for coming to your child’s conference. I hope you got some
important information about where your child is performing. Please feel free
to contact me with questions if you have thought of any since we met. I know
the time flies during those 15 minutes!

Winter break is approaching quickly! The last day of school is December 18th
and students return on January 5th. Though I won’t send homework during break,
students are still expected to read nightly. Thank you for continuing to read
over Thanksgiving!

We have a field trip coming up on the 15th to Popejoy. I will send a reminder
to those parents who will join us on this trip. Please remember that students
will need a sack lunch on that day unless one was ordered for them. Most
likely, we will be eating indoors but you never know, so everyone should dress
warmly!

A note went home yesterday about our holiday party and book exchange. Please
send in your child’s $2 for pizza and book before the day of the party so I
can number the books and be ready for the exchange. This party will not
include games but rather will focus on food, fellowship, and exchanging the
books. Please make sure to get a book appropriate for a girl or boy. Thank you
for participating in expanding home libraries and the love of reading!

**We will be starting our Earth science kit. Our study will begin with rocks.
Please have your child collect 15-20 small rocks of different shapes and sizes
and put them in a bag labeled with their name. We will use them as we observe
their attributes and work on classification. Have them bring their rocks Monday.

Thank you to all the volunteers who accompanied us to the UNM Art Museum. We
appreciate you!
