After volunteering with the Art in the School program at Bandelier from 1999
to 2004, I was highly motivated to go back to school to get my teacher's
license in Elementary Education. Previously, I had worked as a Medical
Technologist in hospital labs making use of a college degree in Chemistry.
This will be my fifth year of teaching at Bandelier. I started teaching at
the third grade level, but am very happy to have moved to second grade. I
find it easier to weave art into the curriculum at 2nd grade and feel strongly
that our children need to express themselves through art in order to become
creative problem solvers.
I was born and raised in the state of Iowa and found my way to Albuquerque in
1985. In '89 I met my husband over an interesting urine specimen while
working in the lab. It was Valentine's Day and the chemisty was in place!
We have two children, who are Bandelier alumni as well as one dog, Chompsky
who is part standard poodle and golden retriever.
I feel very fortunate to be part of the Bandelier community and look forward
to working with our staff and families to provide the best educational experience
possible for your child!
The students and I will brainstorm our Mission Statement during the
first few days of the new school year.
