• Read pages 144-171. Remember that your bio-poem project is due on Tuesday, October 6.

• Read pages 108-143 (chapters 15-19)
• Write in your notebook for five minutes about a specific passage that you find interesting or troublesome (informal writing, this won't be collected but we will use it in class.) 
• Turn in anything that was missing from your Slaughterhouse Five assignments

• Read pages 72- 107 (chapters 9-14)
• Begin working on bio-poem project (you'll get details in class on Monday)

• Revise the passage analysis you did for class last Friday to turn in
• Recommended: Start reading for Tuesday's assignment

• Read pages 42-71 (chapters 5-8)
• Choose a brief passage to analyze and write about it (use the formula of stating a thesis, explaining the literal meaning of the passage, provide the context for it, and then explore why it is important or interesting)

• Read pages 16-41
• Choose one of the elements of fiction and write for at least five minutes using the questions on the "Questions to Help you Analyze Fiction"
• Write three questions about the reading

• Read pages 1-15
• Write for five minutes (without stopping) answering the question: What sort of man is Walton?
• Identify one specific passage that you want to discuss in class
• Are there any new vocabulary words you were able to figure out because of Latin or Spanish?

Required: Complete the items on the Slaughterhouse Five assignment sheet (see handouts folder if you are curious; otherwise you'll receive this in class)

 

Optional: Find the answer to a question about Kurt Vonnegut or Slaughterhouse Five (I'll give you the details in class).
