8th grade assignments

Merry Olde England

OK 8th grade thespians! You have been given an assignment. Mission Impossible?
No Way!

Why? It will help you when you finally get to perform in the Shakespearean
Journey if you understand from what perspective Shakespeare observes the
world. Although Shakespeare is universal in his philosophy and somehow
timeless, he did exist at a certain time that was very different from now. As
actors, it is important that we investigate that world.

We are researching the following topics for a presentation:

Food Religion
Jobs/ Work Role of Women
Hygiene Law and Justice
Medical/Diseases Actors
Art Music/Instruments
Fashion—Men/Women Houses/Homes
Inventions Queen Elizabeth I & II
Communication Hairstyles
School Life Makeup
Children Travelling
Class System Entertainment
Superstitions Interior Design
Sports Hobbies
Storytelling/Literature Architecture
Gardening/Agriculture OTHER IDEAS?????????

1. Choose one of these areas to research. Find out what your topic was like
in Elizabethan Times (1600’s).

2. Turn in a hard copy of your research with one full page of facts. This
should be typed in 12 point font Times New Roman and double spaced. Bullet
points only. Attach a bibliography citing your sources.

3. You will then create a presentation for the class using your research.
Pictures would be helpful and will add points.

4. Please put title and name at the top of the page.

We will present these Wednesday, October 28th. You will need to hand in your
research to your teacher after your presentation. Good luck on your
assignment. Have fun?
