Using your most recent reading assignment (chapters 79 – 87) and any other
readings you have done in Song of the Dodo or any place else, answer the
following question. Use quotes and specific examples to help support and
illustrate. When using direct quotes, simply put the page number in
parentheses. If you are using a source other than Song of the Dodo, you must
use MLA format for citing that source.
For the actual final exam you may bring your book and an outline of your
essay, but nothing else.
“Rarity is perilous” (p. 293). Write an essay that explains the significance
of this statement as it relates to the case of the thylacine specifically and
island species in general. In your essay you should include the following
concepts as they apply to this question:
1. Continental vs Oceanic Islands
2. Small Islands vs Large Islands
3. Predators vs Herbivores
