| The course uses Connected Mathematics, a middle school series developed with funding from the
National Science Foundation. This integrated curriculum helps students develop understanding of
important concepts, skills, procedures, and ways of thinking and reasoning in geometry,
measurement, algebra, probability and statistics and data analysis. Conceptual learning is balanced
with ongoing skills review. Each week, a basic arithmetic skill will be reviewed and tested. For
students who have not mastered the skill, additional review will be available, and the skill will be
retested. For the complete syllabus, go to the "handouts" link.
[The universe] cannot be read until we have learnt the language and become familiar with the
characters in which it is written. It is written in mathematical language, and the letters are triangles,
circles and other geometrical figures, without which means it is humanly impossible to comprehend
a single word.
