Biology Homework

April 1-2

Assignment 1-
Using a fourth sheet of white paper for each, draw (using color) one of each
of the four different types of tissue (connective, muscle, nervous and
epithelial) make sure you do all three muscle drawings- you should have six
in total. You can use your memory from the slides, use the slides or use
pictures from text books. These pictures must be in color. Attach the cut
out pictures to your body where that tissue would be found. Label the
tissue
and the place where it is found. (IE- attach your nervous tissue drawing to
where your spinal cord would be and label both)

Assignment 2-
Construct a femur bone for your body. It should be as close to life size as
you can get it. Use your hip to your knee as a measurement. Imagine
someone
started at your hip and cut your femur in half all the way down. Without
drawing, you should construct a model of your bone using different types of
construction paper. All layers of bone as well as the two types of bone
marrow should be included. You should also include an osteocyte with a
haversian canal running through it

April 7-8
Using the diagram from your packet as a guide, make a muscle and radiate all
components of that muscle including the following:
fascicle, muscle fiber, myofibril, sarcomere, z-line, actin and myosin.
You may NOT draw any of these components.

April 9-10
Worksheet given out in class.

April 14-15

Make your heart
Make a lifesize representation of your heart using construction paper. You
may not draw anything on your heart. All oxygenated parts of the heart need
to be one color and unoxygenated another. You should make your septum a
third color as it is neither oxygenated or unoxygenated. Your
atrioventricular valves should be one color and your semilunar another.
Finally, your aorta and vena cava should extend up to your neck and down to
your hips. Have fun!

April 16-17
Add your respiratory system to your body. Include both lungs, the nasal
cavity, epiglottis, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchile and alveoli. (you
may do alveoli on just one lung). After this, draw capillaries on your
alveoli and then connect the alveoli to your heart.

April 22 & 29
Add your digestive system to your body. Include the mouth, all three
salivary glands, the esophagus, cardiac sphincter, stomach, pyloric
sphincter, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestines, large intestines,
appendix and anus.

April 29 & May 1
Add your urinary system to your body. Include the kidneys- one needs to be
cut open to show the cortex, medulla and renal pelvis. show both ureturs,
the bladder and the urethra. Be sure to connect the kidney to your vena cava
and aorta.

FINAL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
Add the INTERNAL structures of your reproductive system to your body, but
only your gender. For males, include the testis, epididymis, vas deferens,
prostate gland, seminal vesicle, bulbourethral gland and INTERNAl urethra.
For females include the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tube, cervix and vagina.
