1) to produce a newspaper periodical that relfects the school character.
2) to produce a quality yearbook that will tell the story of this year at
Bosque School and include eveyone
3) to teach the staff the technical and objective skills required to create
these publications
In order to accomplish these objectives, journalism students will devote their
time to the following activities:
• Learning their rights and responsibilities as student journalists
• Implementing basic principles of designing spreads, taking photographs,
developing a theme, and writing captions and copy
• Gaining proficiency in desktop publishing with Quark and Jostens program
• Developing student leadership and decision-making skills
• Finding ways to increase diversity in the yearbook
• Most importantly, producing a newspaper and yearbook the students, staff and
community will enjoy. (This means editing carefully so that everyone’s name is
spelled correctly, choosing unique and attractive photographs, and creating
interesting captions and copy that everyone will want to read!)
