Absences

Absences

When students are absent, they are responsible for making up the work.
Students will have an Absent Folder on their desk when they return.
Students have the same number of days they were gone, for example, if John
misses 2 days of school, he would have 2 days after he returned to school to
make up the work. Much of our classroom activities cannot be done at home
(group work, experiments, in-class games, buddy class activities, etc), so
regular attendance is encouraged.

Book orders

Students have the opportunity to purchase book from the book orders sent
home. I use Scholastic's "Lucky Book Club,Arrow Book Club and Trumpet Book
Club." If I send two order forms home, feel free to combine the two orders
and use one check to pay for the books. Please make checks payable
to "Scholastic Book Clubs"as Scholastic owns all the companies.

The book orders are due the following Thursday when everything in class is
turned in.

Assigned Due Dates

Children will learn about what assigned due dates are in third grade. If for
some reason a student will not be in scbool during that due date (aside from
illness) the project or homework assignment will be due before that due
date.

Friday Folders

Friday folders contain all of the assignments for the following week. They
also contain graded work, newsletters and any paperwork sent home by Double
Eagle. Please check your child's backpack each Friday for this important
infprmation.

Parent Volunteers

I cannot imagine teaching without parent volunteers! Parents play a critical
role in the functioning of our classroom. I ask that if you make a
commitment to help that you follow through on it or find another parent to
replace you for that day.

Birthdays!

We love to celebrate birthdays with snack at recess! Please bring a snack
that can be handed out to children individually (not something that needs to
be cut up). Please send the snack in the morning and I will decide when the
best time is to share.
