I was born in Oklahoma, moved to Albuquerque for first-grade, graduated from
Del Norte High School and the University of New Mexico. I have taught 1st
grade at Duranes, Zuni, Osuna, Arroyo del Oso and Georgia O'Keeffe Elementary
Schools. I have done my graduate work at UNM.
My family includes husband Martin, daughter Julia, dogs Koko and Buster, and
cat Midnight.
I am very happy to be your child's teacher. I hope that I can make this year
a wonderful experience for all. However, I need your help and support. I
feel that parents and teachers working together as a team can best insure
your child's success.
The education of your child is an exciting process. Because children learn
at different rates and in different ways, it is important that the child's
family work closely with school personnel to support successful learning
experiences. I am committed to a process that involves you and encourages
your support.
Education becomes more meaningful for children when they are able to apply
the skills taught in the classroom in a variety of learning situations. I
hope that you will recognize your child's efforts and achievements and
support the efforts of the school. A home environment that values learning
is essential to a student' success now and in the years to come. High
expectations, a positive self-concept, and encouragement from the home and
the school will provide opportunities for your child to be a successful
learner. We exist to serve children.
