Welcome,
My name is Miss Mandy Cain. I am very excited to continue my journey in
education with the James Monroe faculty/and families this year as a Language
Arts/Literature, Journalism, and Drama teacher. I love working with middle
school students and believe that this year will be an excellent one.
This will be my fourth year at James Monroe. Last year went exceptionally
well due in large part to the amazing students and the supportive positive
community.
Last year I completed my Level 2 licensure requirements, which means that I
am now officially considered a professional teacher! I am very excited to
begin this school year because it will be my first year teaching drama. I
was involved in drama all through high school and recently was cast in a
local production of the play Noises Off. Theatre has always been a passion
of mine, and I'm excited to parlay that love into my career. I am the kind
of teacher who loves student voices, and I'm excited to hear even more of
those voices in our drama classes.
In my first year at JMMS I was honored by the students with a nomination for
JMMS Teacher of the Year. Over the past few years I have been the yearbook
advisor and an active member of the faculty. I anticipate that this year
will be even better than the last. I am thrilled to meet a new group of
interesting unique students and to see what talents they will bring to their
classes.
Prior to my time at JMMS, I worked for the Albuquerque Public Schools for
two years as an educational assistant in the ISP program at Highland High
School, and I loved every minute of it. I also completed one year of
student teaching split between 10th grade Language Arts at Highland High
School and 8th grade Language Arts at Wilson Middle School. I hold my B.A.
in Communications and Journalism and my M.A. in Secondary Education with a
concentration in Language Arts. Both of my degrees were obtained at the
University of New Mexico.
Once again, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my website and
ask you to feel free to contact me via e-mail or at the school any time
(cain_a@aps.edu). I am here to support students and families in any way I
can.
-Mandy Cain
This year we will work together to explore the English language and all of
its facets. We will embrace diversity and learn how powerful being a master
of language really is.
